Description

Data required to replicate the results of Bell et al. "Calibrating primary crop parameters to capture undersown species impacts". Instructions and code to do so can be found at https://github.com/qdbell/TWINWIN-Intercrop. "Kumpula"-prefixed files are retrieved from FMI open data, TWINWIN_workspace and barley_sole_default.csv are modified from STICS to create suitable model set ups. The remaining files contain measurements from the TWINWIN experiment in Viikki.

Lineage
- NEE: Net Ecosystem Exchange fluxes were measured using the chamber technique with a clear chamber, a metal collar and a portable CO2 analyzer, similarly to Trémeau et al. (2024) study (https://doi.org/10.5194/bg-21-949-2024). - GPP: Gross Primary Production for a specific PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation), was estimated from the light response curve built from the NEE measurements. See Trémeau et al. (2024) study for detailed explanations on the light response curve. - Reco: Ecosystem respiration was obtained directly from NEE measurement, while applying an opaque fabric over the clear chamber. - Yield: Barley yield is collected from the center of the plot, which was not disturbed by measurements. The grain was first cleaned (removal of any plant residue) then dried. - GAI: Green Area Index was estimated from within the metal collars using a blend of two ICOS protocol (https://doi.org/10.18160/e568-rdtd, https://doi.org/10.18160/6mkw-3s2r). Green leaves and green stems were counted for each species, then samples from outside the collar were collected for estimating the average hemi-surface area per green leave or green stem.
