Process step
The source data was given to the FMI road weather model as input and the model gave surface temperature as output. The output surface temperature was verified againts observations and several verification metrics were calculated
Source data
Road weather observations are provided by Finnish Transport and Communication Agency (https://www.traficom.fi/en/), Local horizon angles are calculated from laser scanning data provided by National Land Survey of Finland (https://www.maanmittauslaitos.fi/en/maps-and-spatial-data/expert-users/product-descriptions/laser-scanning-data). First the laser scanning data was transformed to digital surface model with Lastools software.., MEPS forecasts are provided by Finnish Meteorological Institute (https://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/open-data). The data has been interpolotaed to the forecast points and some cumulative values changed to intensity
