Description
Data related to manuscript titled "Effects of sky view factor and screening on road surface temperature forecast accuracy in Finland" to be submitted to a scientific journal for publication.
Data includes:
-Coordinates of the selected forecast points
-Local horizon angles of the selected forecast points
-Road weather station measurements
-MEPS forecast
-Simulated road surface temperatures
-Verification results
Each folder contains a readme file to explain the data

- Process step
- The source data was given to the FMI road weather model as input and the model gave surface temperature as output. The output surface temperature was verified againts observations and several verification metrics were calculated
- Source data
- Road weather observations are provided by Finnish Transport and Communication Agency (https://www.traficom.fi/en/), Local horizon angles are calculated from laser scanning data provided by National Land Survey of Finland (https://www.maanmittauslaitos.fi/en/maps-and-spatial-data/expert-users/product-descriptions/laser-scanning-data). First the laser scanning data was transformed to digital surface model with Lastools software.., MEPS forecasts are provided by Finnish Meteorological Institute (https://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/open-data). The data has been interpolotaed to the forecast points and some cumulative values changed to intensity
