Description
Source apportionment data for elemental carbon (EC) observed in a Svalbard ice core covering 300 years (1700-2005). The resource includes observed elemental carbon concentration and deposition (flux) data, non-polar particle-bound organic compound flux data, trace element flux data, and data on the fraction of non-fossil fuel sources to the observed EC in the ice core.

- This resource includes source apportionment data of elemental carbon (EC) produced to identify the emission sources of EC recorded in a 300-year Svalbard ice core. The source attribution data consists of A) organic compound, B) trace element, and C) radiocarbon analyses. Also the original EC concentration and deposition data are included. The EC data consists of 88 samples, whereas organic compound analyses could be performed for 50, the trace element analyses for 31, and the radiocarbon analyses for 14 selected samples. The organic compound analyses were performed by thermal desorption gas chromatography time of flight mass spectrometry, the trace element analyses by inductively coupled mass spectrometry and the radiocarbon analyses by accelerator mass spectrometry after isolation of EC from other carbon fractions.
