Data for manuscript "Evaluation of simulated N cycling using observations from a 15N tracer experiment in a mixed deciduous forest"
Description
This material includes simulation results, observational data and meteorological forcing data related to the manuscript "Evaluation of simulated N cycling using observations from a 15N tracer experiment in a mixed deciduous forest" by Thum et al.
The QUINCY output files are in two zip-files (quincy_veg_files.zip for vegetation pools, quincy_soil_files.zip for soil pools). The variable names used in the study are listed in this page. In the soil files the name of the substrate (carbon - C, nitrogen - N, dN15 - sigma 15 nitrogen) is in the file name.
The observational data has been published earlier in Goodale et al. (2015, Ecology, doi: 10.1890/14-1852.1) and Goodale et al. (2017, Global Change Biology, doi: 10.1111/gcb.13483). They are included in the observations.zip file, that includes the observations from these studies that were used in this study for evaluation.
The meteorological data used in the QUINCY model simulations was created from the CRU JRA v2.1 (University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit, https://catalogue.ceda.ac.uk/uuid/10d2c73e5a7d46f4ada08b0a26302ef7), h was disaggregated to half-hourly data using a statistical weather generator (Zaehle and Friend, 2010, Global Biogeochemical Cycles, doi: 10.1029/2009GB003521. The annual atmospheric CO2 concentration was taken from (Le Quere et al., Earth System Science Data, 2018, doi: 10.5194/essd-10-405-2018) and N deposition data from Lamarque et al. (2010, Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, doi: 10.5194/acp-10-7017-2010) and Lamarque et al. (2011, Climatic Change, doi: 10.1007/s10584-011-0155-0). The meteorological data is in file meteo_data.zip.
