Description
This dataset contains five tarballs and two .csv-files containing key icing outputs obtained in the manuscript: "Future Rime Ice Conditions for Energy Infrastructure over Fennoscandia Resolved with a High-Resolution Regional Climate Model" by Rockas et al. (2026). In the study, in-cloud icing in northern Europe was analyzed with HCLIM (Harmonie-Climate) simulations used as input. The HCLIM simulations were driven with two GCMs (EC-EARTH and GFDL-CM3) and for three time periods (1986-2005, 2041-2060, and 2081-2100) with RCP8.5 pathway as the emission scenario.
Three of the tarballs include icing calculations for the whole study area (mean ice mass, annual maximum ice mass and mean annual icing hours), while two others are from specific study areas (Kontiolahti and Utsjoki) and cover all the outputs of the icing model. These results have been analyzed at the model height of 50 meters. The two .csv-files include annual icing hours calculated for a study area in Kauhajoki and cover multiple tropospheric heights (50, 100, 200, 300 and 400 meters).

- Lineage
- Icing model developed at FMI, based on ISO 12494, was driven with HCLIM (Harmonie Climate) simulations as input (temperature, cloud liquid water content and wind speed from multiple tropospheric heights as main input). As output, multiple in cloud icing-related parameters were derived for three time periods and two GCMs.
